Orange Stripe by Sarah Powers
After one year of art school, I believe it’s impossible to photograph art work completely, unless the thing is a photograph. Sometimes a picture will give you an idea of what a painting or a piece of sculpture or a shocky-shock abortion experiment looks like, but you have to see the thing in person to really understand how it was made, what the hell it means, and why you should bother spending some time staring at it while you’re trying to figure out what the hell it means.
Sarah Powers lives in Raleigh, and it’s pretty easy to find her work in the area. The photo up there looks nothing like the actual painting.
